Virat Kohli lamented Royal Challengers Bangalore’s abysmal batting performance against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, terming it ‘disgraceful’. RCB suffered a massive 82-run defeat to KKR after they were bundled out for 49 – the lowest team total in the history of the IPL.

Virat Kohli duck out

“Probably our worst batting performance, if not the worst of all time in IPL. Very hurtful for me to stand here and talk., ¬†thought we could capitalize and chase the score down. I can’t really say anything now, because it was that bad. As professional cricketers, we are expected to do much better. Our performance was unacceptable. Disgraceful batting, reckless from us, one of the worst collapses ever.”

Kohli, who was the first wicket to fall before the batting line-up suffered their implosion, was unhappy with movement over the sightscreen just before Nathan Coulter-Nile delivered the ball that took the RCB captain’s wicket. But, Kohli reckoned that it wasn’t a reason enough for the team’s failure to make a comeback from an early jolt.

“The sightscreen is very small here, and one guy just got up when the bowler was loading up – that was right behind the bowler’s arm. But that was just the first wicket, there were nine others in the hut. It was a shocking batting performance. We just didn’t turn up in the second innings at all,” said Kohli
